Job Summary:

The Plumber Helper-Apprentice assists mechanics in positioning, aligning, and fitting together construction components to complete the installation of systems and work assigned in a timely and quality fashion.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

• Holds, positions, and reads tape to assist in layout.
• Places and moves, equipment and materials.
• Positions and turns clamps; screws, bolts (and hammers parts together) out; uses tools and equipment properly and only if certified (as required).
• Transports and furnishes the Technician Mechanic with materials, tools, and supplies.
• Cleans work area, machines, tools, and equipment; ensures that tools, equipment, and materials are stored properly and securely.
• Performs other routine duties. Available to work after hours.
• Comply with company policies and procedures, especially safety rules.

• 0–1-year experience

Qualifications:

• Education:  High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Experience:  Entry-level; previous construction or mechanical experience a plus.
• Skills:
• Basic understanding of hand and power tools.
• Ability to read and interpret simple blueprints or drawings.
• Strong work ethic and willingness to learn.
• Physical stamina for lifting, bending, and working in confined spaces.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.

Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to outside weather conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts and high, precarious places. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
