Position Summary
Quarry Glue is seeking an experienced, highly skilled, and innovative medicinal chemist to lead the chemistry efforts for induced proximity drug discovery projects from hit identification through lead optimization and candidate selection. The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in medicinal chemistry, strong leadership capabilities, and a passion for advancing cutting-edge science toward transformative medicines.
Responsibilities include
· Design and implement medicinal chemistry strategies from early discovery through candidate selection, leveraging structure- and property-based design principles.
· Drive compound design and optimization, integrating SAR, ADME/DMPK, pharmacology, and safety data to achieve optimal target product profiles.
· Collaborate with computational chemistry teams to apply machine learning and AI tools for molecular design and optimization.
· Work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams to integrate data and guide decision-making.
· Direct and manage external CRO partnerships, ensuring efficient execution of complex synthetic routes and timely compound delivery.
· Collaborate with legal and IP teams to draft and review patent filings related to medicinal chemistry discoveries.
Qualifications
· Ph.D. in Organic or Medicinal Chemistry with 5+ years of experience, or M.S. with 15+ years in small molecule drug discovery within pharma or biotech environment.
· Expertise in synthetic organic chemistry, SAR analysis, ADME, pharmacokinetics, and drug design principles.
· Knowledge of, and preferably experience with, induced proximity concepts and technologies, including molecular glues and bifunctional molecules.
· Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and excellent communication skills.
· Demonstrated success through publications and/or patent inventorship related to drug design, potency optimization, and improvement of pharmaceutical and DMPK properties.
· Experience as a chemistry and/or project leader preferred.
