Job Description

Painter/Finisher

Company Overview

We design and build custom event pieces for weddings, parties, and special occasions. Our work is built to be beautiful, durable, and reusable across multiple events. We are looking for a skilled Painter/Finisher who can take ownership of finishing projects—bringing raw materials to life with professional coatings while also maintaining and refreshing our existing inventory.

Key Responsibilities

● Prepare and finish event furnishings and structures made from wood (poplar, birch), metal, and other materials.

● Apply a wide range of finishes, including:

○ DIY paints and coatings (brush, roller, airless sprayer).

○ Professional finishes such as 2K coatings, pre- and post-catalyzed varnishes, and other specialty paints.

● Perform surface prep including sanding, filling, patching, and repair work to extend the lifespan of reusable pieces.

● Properly mask, spray, and apply coatings using airless sprayers, HVLP systems, brushes, and rollers.

● Assist in setup and maintenance of the finishing area and spray booth.

● Work with carpenters as needed on light shop tasks when finishing workload is lighter.

● Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment.

Qualifications

● Proven experience in professional finishing or cabinetry/wood finishing.

● Strong understanding of coating systems, adhesion, and proper prep techniques.

● Hands-on experience with airless and HVLP spraying equipment, compressors, dryers, masking, and finishing tools.

● Ability to troubleshoot and repair reusable event pieces (sanding, filling, refinishing, color changes).

● Comfortable working in variable shop conditions (hot/cold, dusty).

● Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, stand for long periods, bend, stoop, kneel, and reach.

● Reliability, strong attention to detail, and willingness to jump in where needed.

● Independence to “take the reins” while also collaborating with a team that has limited finishing knowledge.

Schedule & Availability

● Standard hours: Monday–Friday, 9am–5pm.

● Flexibility required for occasional weekend work or overtime during event deadlines.

Compensation & Benefits

This is a full-time position in a Company with multiple disciplines in live event production. Salary will be based on experience and begins at $20/hour. A good finisher can save a terrible piece of carpentry, and a perfectly crafted piece of scenery can be equally ruined by someone lacking skills. A 90 day trial period will be offered and if we are a good fit, a full compensation package with health, life, dental, vision and a 401k will be extended

Why Join Us?

This role is ideal for a painter/finisher looking to prove themselves beyond an apprentice level, with the freedom to own the finishing process and help shape how our shop approaches coatings and refinishing. You’ll work on unique, creative projects that directly impact how our event pieces look and perform for clients. We have the unique opportunity to create experiences that have never existed before and will never be seen again. We are the people who make the dreams come true.
