Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Full-Time and PRN Occupational Therapy Assistant to join our team! Under general supervision of an Occupational Therapist and according to established treatment plans and specific procedures, provides treatment to occupational therapy patients in order to assist them in regaining physical abilities and function, increase functional skills and independence. Performs related clerical and service duties.
Responsibilities: - Assists the Occupational Therapist in developing and implementing occupational therapy care plans; performs daily occupational therapy assignments
- Responsible for the daily care of assigned patients
- Guides patients through prescribed exercise programs, including passive, assistive, and resistive exercise routines
- Applies heat, light, water, and electrically based treatments/modalities (i.e., ultrasound, infrared lamp, muscle stimulation, traction, hot and cold packs, paraffin baths, whirlpool, diathermy, etc.) to stimulate muscle/nerve function and/or for pain management, as prescribed, with proven competency and available equipment.
- Assists patients in ADL skills retraining.
- Performs other therapeutic activities such as massage and body mechanics.
- Observes patient condition during treatment noting significant changes in patient condition
- Records patient response to treatment and overall progress in patient charts
- Refers patients to Occupational Therapist for re-evaluation as necessary
- Prepares patient referrals
Qualifications: - Associate's Degree in Occupational Therapy
- Must have current licensure
