Position Summary

As a Minor League Athletic Trainer, you will be responsible for providing medical care, injury prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation for Minor League players. This role involves collaborating with Director of Athletic Training/Rehab, Assistant Director of Athletic Training/Rehab, Manager of Academy Medical, strength and conditioning staff, and coaches to ensure the health and performance of players. An interprofessional collaborative spirit, effective multidiscipline communication, and relationship building through a foundation of trust, integrity, and a player-centered approach to healthcare are essential for success in this position.

Essential Functions

  • Provide daily injury prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation services for Minor League players.
  • Conduct player evaluations and implement individualized treatment plans.
  • Maintain accurate medical records and ensure compliance with MLB and team health protocols.
  • Collaborate with team physicians and medical staff to manage injuries and recovery plans.
  • Assist in the implementation of strength and conditioning programs.
  • Assist in the education of players on health, nutrition, and injury prevention strategies.
  • Travel with the assigned Minor League affiliate and provide medical coverage for all games and activities.
  • Report injury status and updates to the Assistant Director of Athletic Training/Rehab, Manager of Academy Medical, and front office personnel.

Skill Requirements

  • Proficiency in MLB Electronic Medical Record System (AthleteRMS)
  • Strong knowledge of sports medicine, injury prevention, and rehabilitation techniques.
  • Experience with injury evaluation, treatment, and return-to-play protocols.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with coaches, medical staff, and front office personnel.
  • Familiarity with MLB and MiLB health and safety protocols.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.

Education & Experience Guidelines

  • Bachelor’s degree in Athletic Training, Sports Medicine, or related field required.
  • Master’s degree preferred.
  • Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC) through the Board of Certification (BOC).
  • Licensed or eligible for licensure as an Athletic Trainer in the state of employment.
  • Experience in athletic training, professional or collegiate baseball preferred.
  • Experience working with high-performance athletes in a structured sports environment preferred.

Work Environment

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly.
  • Willingness to travel extensively during the season.
  • Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and perform physically demanding tasks.
