Job Description

We are hiring an experienced  Heavy Duty Forklift Operator to join our growing team in the  container logistics industry . You’ll be responsible for safely moving, loading, and unloading 20ft & 40ft long shipping containers using high-capacity forklifts in a fast-paced outdoor yard environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Operate container forklifts and other heavy machinery to load and unload containers from trucks, trailers, and storage areas.
• Conduct pre-operational checks on forklifts to ensure proper functioning and safety compliance.
• Secure containers using appropriate equipment and techniques to prevent shifting or damage during transportation.
• Follow established procedures for container handling and storage to maintain organization and efficiency in the facility
• Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors to coordinate container movements and prioritize tasks.
• Adhere to all safety regulations and protocols to minimize accidents and injuries in the workplace.
• Maintain cleanliness and orderliness in work areas, including removing debris and performing routine maintenance on equipment.
• Participate in training sessions and professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge of container handling operations.
• Assist with other duties as needed, including general warehouse tasks and inventory management.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid forklift operator certification.
• Proven experience operating container forklifts or similar heavy machinery in a warehouse or logistics setting.
• Strong understanding of safety procedures and protocols for operating heavy equipment.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.
• Excellent hand-eye coordination and spatial awareness.
• Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Attention to detail and ability to follow instructions accurately.
• Physical strength and stamina to perform manual tasks and lift heavy objects.
• Flexibility to work extended hours, including nights and weekends, as needed.

Environmental Job Conditions

Most of the time is spent moving about continuously on hard surfaces. There may be a need to frequently position oneself to examine and/or scan containers, including bending, climbing, crawling, handling, pulling, reaching, and stooping. Continuously requires lifting objects up to 40 pounds. May require lifting and moving heavy and/or awkward objects more than 40 pounds with assistance. Usually in a comfortable environment surrounded by moving machinery and/or loud equipment that may require shouting in order to be heard. There could be exposure to temperature extremes. There may be occasional exposure to cleaning agents.

Salary: $22.00 - $27.00 per hour
