We are looking for a Construction & Maintenance Helper to join our team!

Important Note: This role is considered safety sensitive, and as such, you may be required to undergo various background screenings. This may include but is not limited to a driving record abstract, criminal check, a company sponsored medical and drug testing.

What You Will Do:

  • Assists higher classifications in the performance of their duties.
  • Learns to perform physical assignments, such as excavating, breaking, back-filling, and utilizing all C&M hand tools including but not limited to paving breakers, tampers, hand spades, tapping tools, driving crew trucks, and light equipment (e.g., dump truck, vac truck, etc.), and performs fusions on all diameters of plastic pipe.
  • Performs curb box and cathodic protection work as directed utilizing curb box and pipe locating equipment, pipe to soil meter, and other equipment as directed.
  • Learns to perform leak investigation work with approved instruments and learns to classify and report leaks according to Company S.O.P.
  • Learns to perform routine maintenance and service on gas detection equipment.
  • Learns to repair and/or replace gas mainlines and service lines.
  • Completes necessary documentation (individual paperwork only) within the Helper classification. Electronically completes the necessary paperwork associated with the Helper classification.
  • Learns to and operates earth-moving equipment mounted on transportation vehicles or on tractors.
  • Learns to and performs minor repairs and routine maintenance including but not limited to checking fuel, oil, water, and hydraulic fluid levels.
  • Assumes responsibility for assigned equipment.
  • Learns and follows Enbridge safety procedures and policies as well as all applicable Standard Operation Procedures.
  • Performs other duties, as directed, within the Helper classification.
  • Learns to and performs duties associated with the Fitter Operator C position in preparation for promotion to the Fitter Operator C classification.

Who You Are:

At the time of interview, must have a valid Class A Commercial Learner’s Permit OR a permanent Class B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL)

Must have an acceptable attendance and work record.

Must pass a reasonable physical test.

Must have a mechanical aptitude to work with tools and equipment.

Must be willing to work overtime, shifts, and be reasonably available for emergency callouts.

Must pass required Operator Qualification (OQ) training and maintain all required Operator Qualifications (OQ) for position.

Must be willing to work overtime. After twelve (12) months in the Helper Classification, this includes the responsibility to be reasonably available for emergency callouts.

Mental Requirements (Both field & office) include but are not limited to:

Ability to: understand, remember and apply oral and/or written instructions or other information, understand complex problems and collaborate/explore alternative solutions, organize thoughts and ideas into understandable terminology, organize and prioritize work schedule on a short-term basis, make decisions which have moderate impact on the immediate work unit and monitor impact outside this area, understand and follow basic instructions and guidelines, complete routine forms, compose letters, outlines, memoranda and basic reports and communicate with individuals via telephone.

Work is performed in all weather conditions and environments including high-traffic urban areas as well as rural off-road areas.
