Job Summary

The Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders (CSD) in the University of Kentucky’s College of Health Sciences is currently accepting applications for a full-time (12-month), Faculty Member to serve as the Program Director for Doctorate in Audiology Program . We invite you to become part of a dynamic department to meet instructional and administrative needs within the newly approved three-year program organized in collaboration with the Department of Otolaryngology- Head and Neck Surgery in the College of Medicine . Rank and salary are commensurate with qualifications and experience. This is a tenure eligible position. This position will be in-person.

The primary responsibilities of the Program Director will be to provide visionary and strategic leadership for our Doctor of Audiology (AuD) program, ensuring academic excellence, innovation in clinical education, and continued accreditation compliance. This individual will be responsible for overseeing curriculum development, faculty coordination, student advising, and clinical partnerships in collaboration with Director of Clinical Education. The Program Director will also mentor faculty, engage in scholarly activities and recruit students while fostering a collaborative environment. This is an on-site, in-person position. The specific instructional assignments will be based on program needs as well as areas of expertise and negotiated with the Chair of the Department of Communicative Sciences and Disorders annually.

Qualified applicants must possess a minimum of a Doctoral Degree in Audiology (PhD, AuD, EdD) or related area, ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence in Audiology, Kentucky audiology licensure or eligibility. About The Audiology Program In Communication Sciences And Disorders

The Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders (CSD) administers a doctoral program in audiology, (effective summer 2026), a master’s level graduate program in Speech-Language Pathology and a pre-professional undergraduate program. The qualified candidate will join an outstanding academic faculty devoted to teaching, research, clinical practice, and service. Our faculty is comprised of three audiologists, nine speech-language pathologists, and one speech physiologist. Program development plans include the addition of two more faculty in audiology. The UK CSD program has had a strong faculty history with two ASHA Honors recipients, eight ASHA Fellows, four state DiCarlo recipients, one national DiCarlo winner, one past president of ASHA, one past president of AAA, and recipients of multiple teaching awards. In addition to program faculty within CSD, physicians and audiologists in the Department of Otolaryngology will also provide didactic and practical instruction as part of the Doctorate in Audiology (AuD) degree program. The UK HealthCare’s Otolaryngology Department provides hearing care services with a faculty of 19 otolaryngologists (four neurotologists), six advanced practice providers and 14 doctoral level audiologists. The Audiology program will be housed in both the current Wethington Building for clinical services as well as the Rankin Heath Education Building (currently under construction) for academic and clinical training.

Faculty members are currently funded at both the state and national levels. Our broad research portfolio places a high value on translational, interdisciplinary, and collaborative science. The College of Health Sciences is home to a variety of research laboratories and maintains strong collaborative ties with colleagues across campus. The successful candidate will have access to several significant research, clinical and instructional resources including the College’s state-of-the-art teaching facilities, the UK Center for the Enhancement of Learning and Teaching , the CSD Academic Clinic , the Human Development Institute , the MRISC Neuroimaging Center , the Center for Clinical Translational Sciences , the Sanders-Brown Center on Aging , a contiguous Veteran’s Affairs Hospital , the Kentucky Neuroscience Institute , the Sports Medicine Research Institute , and the GRILLET Lab Molecular Genetics of Hearing and Hearing Loss , the Center for Telehealth Education, Research, and Outreach.
