Job Description

Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Accounts Payable Clerk to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing the company’s accounts payable processes, ensuring accuracy and compliance with financial regulations. This role requires a strong understanding of accounting principles and proficiency in accounting software to maintain accurate financial records.

Duties

  • Process and verify invoices, ensuring all necessary documentation is included.
  • Perform data entry for accounts payable transactions into the accounting system.
  • Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.
  • Assist with general ledger reconciliation and maintain accurate records of all payables.
  • Support payroll management functions as needed, ensuring compliance with SOX regulations.
  • Utilize Quicken and other accounting software to track expenses and manage accounts.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure proper coding of expenses and adherence to budgetary guidelines.
  • Prepare reports on accounts payable activities for management review.

Requirements

  • Proficiency in debits and credits, with a solid understanding of double entry bookkeeping principles.
  • Experience with accounting software, including but not limited to Quicken and ADP.
  • Knowledge of governmental accounting practices is a plus.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize work effectively.
  • Familiarity with general ledger reconciliation processes.
  • Previous experience in an accounts payable role is preferred but not required.
  • A degree in accounting or related field is advantageous.
