Job Title: Accounting AssistantJob Description The Accounting Assistant will perform daily accounting functions, which may include accounts receivable (AR), accounts payable (AP), invoicing, inventory receiving and ordering, and costing and adjustments. A degree in accounting, finance, or equivalent business experience is preferred. The ideal candidate must understand Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and account reconciliation. Experience with Sage MAS100 accounting software is a plus. Responsibilities + Perform daily accounting functions including AR, AP, and invoicing. + Manage inventory receiving and ordering. + Handle costing and adjustments. + Reconcile accounts in accordance with GAAP. + Maintain excellent organization and communication. + Utilize strong problem-solving and computer skills. Essential Skills + Experience in accounting, accounts payable, and accounts receivable. + Knowledge of purchase order processes. + Understanding of GAAP and account reconciliation. + Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills. + Proficiency in computer applications. Additional Skills & Qualifications + 2+ years of AR experience. + 2+ years of collections experience. + High school diploma. + Valid driver's license. + Basic Excel experience. + Experience with Sage or MAS software is preferred. + An Associate's degree is a plus. Work Environment Join a small, laid-back team in a bookkeeping and accounting support role. The company has a total of 22 employees, including office and warehouse staff, with two employees in the accounting department. This role reports to the supervising accountant. The office environment is clean, casual, and collaborative, with a focus on teamwork. Enjoy benefits such as a monthly bonus based on shipments, payroll every two weeks, and vacation time that accrues throughout the year. Paid holidays are offered after ninety days of employment. Health care coverage begins the first full month of employment, with the company covering 65% of the premium. Employees contribute 35% of the premium from their bi-weekly payroll check. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Davenport, IA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $27.00/hr.
